The University of Vaasa is seen important to its surroundings, and the region is important also to the University. The University is a participant in many projects led by local companies and communities and the city of Vaasa. Also, the University has several teacher and researcher positions tenable for a given period that are established with donations by local contributors.
Many who have just graduated or are still studying have found work or internships in the Ostrobothnian area; thus the University reaches out much farther than simply its home town. Active international student exchange and several master’s programmes where teaching is completely in English tell about the well-established international cooperation.
