The accounting studies concentrate on teaching the student to develop and improve information systems for registering, analyzing and utilizing profit and loss and all other transactions of the business firm and in the public sector. The aim of the finance studies is to produce graduates qualified to take on the duties of firms' financial management as well as for positions within financial markets. Management science provides the scholarly prerequisites for applying scientific methods in research and planning which support management in decision making.
An International Program in Finance for foreign students for the master's degree is also offered.
As a part of its doctoral program a joint nation-wide four-year doctoral program in finance GSF in English has been established with the Accounting and Finance departments of the Helsinki School of Economics and the Swedish School of Economics. The program is sanctioned by the Finnish Ministry of Education and the Academy of Finland. The Graduate School of Accounting GSA will offer coordinated supervision by means of thesis committees and preference to attend special courses.
